In Berkeley & online throughout California
Sometimes the path to healing needs A New Doorway.
Do you feel like talk therapy isn’t enough?
You feel stuck.
You feel disconnected.
You’ve tried everything and nothing quite shifts.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) can offer a
gentle and powerful opening.
KAP brings together the therapeutic potential of ketamine with the
Safety and Grounding of psychotherapy.
It’s not about fixing what’s broken—it’s about Connecting with what’s already in you.
What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?
KAP is a legal, research-supported approach that helps you access deeper layers of your emotional experience.
In a KAP session, you intentionally use ketamine—a safe and fast-acting medicine—to enter a reflective, often expanded state of awareness. Within that space, therapy can feel more fluid, connected, and transformative.
Together, we work with whatever arises: images, insights, emotions, memories.
The result is often a deeper understanding of yourself and a sense of possibility where things once felt stuck.
Medicine for the mind. Grounded in the Heart.
The science of change. The safety of support.
Why Ketamine?
Ketamine is an FDA-approved medication that has been used for decades as an anesthetic. More recently, it’s gained recognition for its rapid-acting antidepressant effects—especially for people struggling with depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
Unlike traditional antidepressants, ketamine supports neuroplasticity, meaning it helps your brain create new pathways—so you can more easily let go of old patterns and form new ways of being.
In KAP, ketamine is used in low doses and taken as a sublingual lozenge (dissolved under the tongue), prescribed and monitored by medical professionals through Journey Clinical.
What Does a KAP Session Feel Like?
The experience is different for everyone, but many people describe it as:
Calm and spacious
Dreamlike or meditative
Emotionally revealing
Spiritually or symbolically rich
You may experience visuals, body sensations, or shifts in time and perspective. You might feel connected to deeper truths—or simply a soft quieting of the mind.
You’ll be lying down, wearing an eye mask, and listening to music. I’ll be with you the entire time, offering presence, grounding, and support.
Find yourself.
It’s not about fixing what’s broken,
it’s about connecting with your
intuitive healing wisdom.
The KAP Process
Here's what working together in this way typically looks like:
1. Medical Intake with Journey Clinical
You’ll meet virtually with a licensed clinician from Journey Clinical, who will review your medical history and determine whether KAP is appropriate for you. If approved, they’ll create a personalized treatment plan and mail your ketamine lozenges to your home.
2. Preparation
Before your first dosing session, we’ll meet for one or more preparation sessions. This is where we’ll set intentions, explore your hopes and concerns, and create a shared understanding of how we’ll work together.
3. Dosing Session
Your KAP session will last 1–2 hours and can take place either in my office or remotely. You’ll self-administer the ketamine lozenge and settle in for the journey. I’ll be there with you the whole time.
4. Integration
After each dosing session, we’ll meet again to make meaning of your experience. This is where we connect the dots—linking insights to real-life changes, healing old wounds, and supporting lasting transformation.
5. Ongoing Support
Journey Clinical’s medical team will continue to check in with you and manage your medication needs. We’ll keep working together therapeutically as long as it feels supportive.
Is KAP Right for Me?
KAP might be a good fit if you:
Feel stuck in traditional therapy
Struggle with depression, anxiety, or trauma that hasn't responded to other treatments
Are open to exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness
Are seeking a deeper connection with yourself
We’ll decide together if this approach feels aligned with your needs, pace, and readiness. There’s no rush, and no pressure—just an open invitation to explore what might be possible.

FAQS
What others have wondered about KAP Therapy.
-
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a legal and research-supported approach that can help loosen rigid thought patterns, soften inner defenses, and open access to deeper parts of the psyche. The ketamine experience often brings an altered state of consciousness—one that can feel expansive, dreamlike, or emotionally illuminating.
This isn’t about escaping reality. It’s about opening to it, with curiosity and compassion.
When we combine the medicine experience with intentional therapeutic support—before, during, and after the session—it can lead to insights that are both profound and actionable. Many clients report feeling more connected to their inner wisdom, and better able to engage in their lives with clarity and meaning.
-
Ketamine is a safe, fast-acting medication originally developed as an anesthetic. In lower doses, it’s used to treat mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It works differently than traditional antidepressants, targeting glutamate receptors in the brain to support neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to grow, adapt, and heal.
Unlike medications that can take weeks to show effects, ketamine can create noticeable shifts within hours—and those effects can last for days or weeks.
In my work with Journey Clinical, we use the sublingual lozenge form of ketamine, which is taken by dissolving under the tongue. It’s a simple, safe, and accessible method of administration.

The ketamine experience is often described as deeply internal. You might feel a sense of spaciousness, detachment from everyday concerns, or an altered perception of time and self. Some people experience vivid imagery or symbolic insights. Others describe a gentle quieting of the mind.
Each session is unique. What matters most is how we prepare for it—and how we integrate what arises afterward.
You’ll be lying down, wearing an eye mask, and listening to calming music. I’ll be present with you throughout the entire session to hold space, ensure your safety, and gently support your process.
